Carthage High School Names Kevin Burgi as New Assistant Principal
Carthage High School is proud to announce that Mr. Kevin Burgi has been selected as the school’s new Assistant Principal, effective July 1, 2026. Mr. Burgi brings a strong background in both classroom instruction and school leadership, along with a proven commitment to student success.
Since 2023, Mr. Burgi has served at Carthage High School as a special education teacher and head baseball coach. He previously served as Assistant Principal at McDonald County High School during the 2022–2023 school year, and from 2019–2022, he held dual roles there as a special education teacher and head baseball coach. Prior to that, he spent six years teaching 6–8 science and coaching baseball at Joplin North Middle School.
Mr. Burgi holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from William Woods University and is certified in K–12 Special Education, 5–9 General Science, and K–12 Administration.
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as an Assistant Principal and grateful for the trust and support that have been shown to me,” said Mr. Burgi. “I appreciate the mentors and colleagues who have helped me grow and I look forward to supporting our staff and students in this role. I also want to thank our baseball players for their commitment as we begin this season, and I look forward to finishing it strong.”
Carthage High School Principal Dr. Angela Holman added, “Mr. Burgi brings prior experience as a high school assistant principal, along with daily, hands-on work with CHS students and staff. He builds strong relationships, sets clear expectations, and follows through in ways that keep students at the center of his work—making him a strong fit for CHS and our community.”
Mr. Burgi will take over the assistant principal role currently held by Mr. Dustin Perkins, who will transition to become the CHS Athletics and Activities Director beginning July 1, 2026.
